Faithful Motivation
Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.” - Martin Luther King, Jr.
Each year I pray for a word that I will intentionally focus on throughout that year. In addition, I pray for a scripture to cling to that embodies the word that God has laid on my heart. Here are a few examples:
2023 - Unbreakable - “But we have this treasure in clay jars, so that it may be made clear this extraordinary power belongs to God and does not come from us. We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be made visible in our bodies. For while we live, we are always being given up to death for Jesus’ sake, to the life of Jesus may be made visible in our mortal flesh. So death is at work in us, but life in you.” - 2 Corinthians 4:7-12 NRSV
2024 - Persevere - “Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer.” -Romans 12:12 NRSV
2025 - Consistency - “Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the LORD, because you know that in the LORD your labor is not in vain.” - 1 Corinthians 15:58 NRSV
2026 - Brave - “Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” - Psalm 27:14 NRSV
As we journey together, I ask God to lay on your heart the words and scriptures you are in need of as you grow in a relationship with Him through the faith in which you have and the motivation for gaining not only spiritual health, but intellectual, physical, and emotional in the days ahead.
